Politician Huntsman to deliver UW-Madison commencement

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Former Utah governor and one-time Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman is scheduled to deliver the University of Wisconsin-Madison spring commencement speech on May 17.

The university announced Wednesday it would be Huntsman giving the address at a joint ceremony for both undergraduates and those receiving master's degrees.

Huntsman served as Utah's governor from 2005 to 2009, when Barack Obama tapped him to serve as U.S. Ambassador to China. He also served as U.S. ambassador to Singapore from 1992 to 1993.

UW-Madison says class leaders chose Huntsman because of his long and successful career in public service. He got his start in politics as an aide to President Ronald Reagan.
