Madison man arrested for arson

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police and fire were called to an attached garage fire to an eight unit apartment building Tuesday afternoon.

The fire, on McKenna Boulevard, was intentionally set.  Investigators believe an accelerant was used.  There was limited damage to the structure as the flames burned themselves out.

While investigating the garage fire, MPD and the Madison Fire Department arson investigators learned of an attempt to set a car on fire.  That vehicle was nearby, in the building's parking lot.

The suspect, 31-year-old Jason Holmes, was arrested on a tentative charge of arson.  Holmes lived in the building, but the owner had given him a notice of five days to vacate.  Apparently problems had risen between Holmes and other tenants.  Move-out day was Tuesday and officers needed to breach his apartment door to make the arrest.
