MADISON (WKOW) --- Madison Police and Fitchburg Police are investigating four similar residential burglaries that happened on the west side between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
Shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 6200 block of Pioneer Road after a resident heard a bang in the back of his home. The resident found a back door shattered and thinks they scared a burglar away.
A short time later, Fitchburg Police responded to another attempted burglary in the 5200 block of Meadowood Drive. Someone tried to enter a home through a window, but a resident was inside, and the burglar fled.
Then around 10 p.m. a couple returned to their home in the 2200 block of Whitney Way and found a back door kicked in. They reported cash, electronics, and jewelry as missing.
Around 11 p.m. another burglarized home was reported in the 5900 block of Riva Road. Entry was made through a back door in this incident as well.
This is the second cluster of similar burglaries in the same general area in the past few weeks. The MPD asks residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
