Woman uses tracking technology to find lost iPhone

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A downtown Madison resident is able to get her stolen iPhone back thanks to tracking technology on her laptop.

Police say the 23-year old's phone was either lost or stolen at Genna's Cocktail Lounge downtown.

The woman says she used tracking technology and told police she was able to determine her phone was inside a Fitchburg home.

The woman rode to the house with an officer, and a 29-year old man said he found the phone, at first saying he located it on the sidewalk near a hotel.

He later admitted he found it inside the bathroom at Genna's Cocktail Lounge.

Police say while he had her phone, he used his own phone to send a friend request to the woman's Facebook account, and then used her phone to accept the request.

The woman said she did not know the man, and the officer told him to have no contact with her.
