Car theft victim holds down suspect until police arrive

MADISON (WKOW) -- A 55-year-old car theft victim helped police catch the suspect by holding him down until police arrived Saturday afternoon.

Madison Police say the victim saw a suspect near his car outside Westgate Mall, and could see its interior had just been rifled.

The Madison man ran down the 26-year-old suspect, and held him down, with the help of another shopper, until police arrived.

Keys, a cell phone, and other items were taken from the vehicle, and have all been recovered.

The victim had left his car unlocked.

Terrance Buchanan was arrested for theft from a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine, and for a parole violation.
