Brothers lose trucks in Lake Winnebago

Posted: Updated:
FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- Lake Winnebago nearly swallowed two trucks Sunday.

According to The Reporter media, they belonged to two brothers from Wisconsin.

Robert Lobajeski's had been riding motorcycles with his brother, when he drove onto the ice to pick up cones.

The ice was too thin and his truck ended up partially submerged.

Then Lobajeski's brother, Brett Lobajeski, tried to tow the truck out.

His tires also went through the ice.

The trucks weren't far off recommended driving paths, but temperatures in the 50's had softened the ice.

Both men escaped safely, but Brett Lobajeski says he doesn't expect his to run again.
