Nineteen people arrested after internet predator sting

Posted: Updated:
GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Nineteen people in north-eastern Wisconsin have been arrested following a sting targeting internet child sex predators.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office says "Operation Vanguard" happened Thursday, March 27th through Saturday, March 29th.

According to our affiliate, WBAY, investigators responded to online ads of adults looking for sex with minors.  They talked with more than 1,000 people and have arrested the nineteen throughout five different counties.

Brown County Sheriff John Gossage says, "At any given point, there's a law enforcement officer out there that will be posing as a child."

One of the man charged Monday was in training to become a school bus driver.  A spokesperson for the bus service says the man never drove a route alone and is no longer employed.

This is the fourth operation of its kind in northeast Wisconsin.

Investigators say more arrest could come.
