RATCLIFFE, TX (WKOW) -- Chupacabra is a mythical creature, but one family in Texas caught an unusual animal that they can only described as a chupacabra.

The mythical story has been around for decades: a hairless beast known for attacking and sucking the blood of other animals, especially goats.  But for the Stock family in Ratcliffe, the myth has become a reality.

Jackie Stock says the animal was found eating corn.  She says her husband caught the creature Sunday night.  The creature's back is hairless, it has large claws, many teeth, and a ferocious growl.  The animal has been caged.

A parks and wildlife biologist, Brent Ortego, thinks it's a kind of canine.  Ortego says the animal most likely has mange which caused it to lose its hair.

The Stock family says they are not sure what they are going to do with the animal.  Jackie Stock says she's just trying to figure out what it is.
