Lake Delton not liable for homes destroyed in 2008 flood

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin appeals court has ruled the Village of Lake Delton isn't liable for lakeshore homes destroyed during a 2008 flood that blew out a section of Lake Delton shoreline.

The lake drained away through the breach, taking a number of homes with it.

The residents of the homes sued the village in 2009, alleging Lake Delton took their property without proper compensation.

A Sauk County judge ultimately found the village took no action that caused the losses and the 4th District Court of Appeals upheld that decision Thursday, agreeing the village bears no liability for compensation.
