Packers support K9 units

Posted: Updated:
GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- The brewers just adopted a dog, so the packers are in a way following suit.

But these dogs are not mascots, they are for safety. The team donated $15,000 to help fund new bomb-sniffing K-9 units for local law enforcement agencies. Six hours before kickoff, the dogs will search all areas of Lambeau Field.

"It's quite an undertaking on gameday, they're pretty exhausted when they get done so it's alot of stuff to search, so they do an excellent job," said Brown Co. Sheriff's Office Lt. Tom Zeigle.

"Wicks" will join the Brown Co. Sheriff's Office while "Cops" will be the newest member of the Green Bay Police Department.

The dogs will officially join the force in May.
