CUDAHY (WKOW) -- A 34-year-old man is in custody following a four-and-a-half-hour long standoff in Cudahy on Friday.

Cudahy police went to a home around noon after receiving a report of a man who made suicidal statements and displayed a gun during a video phone call.

Authorities say both the man and an officer fired shots during the standoff. People in nearby homes were evacuated. SWAT team officers used a chemical agent and entered the home around 4:30 p.m.

According to Cudahy Police Chief Thomas Poellot, the man was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
