Madison WWII veteran celebrates 100th birthday

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison man is celebrating a century milestone this weekend.

World War II veteran Fred Busse marked his 100th birthday Sunday with his family and friends. Busse was a pilot in the Air Force during the war, and flew all over the world, to Alaska, New Zealand, Africa and the Philippines.

Busse says after 100 years, he has motivation to stick around for a while longer.

"Here I am... but I gotta go two more years to beat an aunt of mine who went 102, so I gotta beat that old bird," Busse tells 27 News with a laugh.

Busse only retired six years ago at the age of 94. He worked as an appliance salesman.
