Make-A-Wish restores teen's truck

Posted: Updated:
PIGEON FALLS (WKOW) -- With the help of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Zachery Lambright is now back behind the wheel of his dream truck.

Our affiliate, WQOW, reports Zachary has melanoma cancer, which is a life-threatening illness that the 18-year-old is still fighting.

Zachery's father, Mervin Lambright, says "It's been a tough ride the last year. It's definitely not something you dream of. I never thought it would hit me or one of my family to have cancer."

It's been almost a year since Lambright saw his beloved Chevy Scottsdale, his dream car.

With the help of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and local auto shops, Zachery's truck is now out of the shop and ready for him to ride again.

But Zachery has a positive outlook on life and especially while on the road. While Zachery worked to get healthy, mechanics worked to get Zachery's truck healthy as well.

Stephanie Brueggen, the wish granter, said "There wasn't any wish granters in this area. He seemed like a real fighter.  He was very positive from the first time we met him."

Make-A-Wish said the price tag to restore Zachery's truck was around $25,000.  Much of the work was donated by auto shops around Eau Claire.
