Vice President Biden weighs in on WI voting changes

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Vice President Joe Biden commented on the voting changes happening throughout the nation, including Wisconsin.

In a Democratic National Committee's New Voter Expansion Project video, Vice President Biden says, "If someone had said to me ten years ago that I'd have to make a pitch for protecting voting rights today, I would have said 'You've got to be kidding.'"

Vice President Biden also says there are almost fifty restrictive voting rights bills under consideration nationwide.  Specifically, he mentions the Wisconsin law that was recently passed by Governor Scott Walker that limits in-person absentee voting and eliminates weekend voting.

Republicans defended the measure as a matter of fairness for rural voters who might not have municipal clerks that can hold weekend voting hours.
