Madison Mustangs close shop

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) - The Madison Mustangs will not defend their league title. That's because the team is folding.

Team owner Bob Gingras says the team drew "OK" and had sponsors, but he decided to disband the team due to growing time commitments.

"It was both a second job and a hobby. It was hard to keep up. I have kids, a law practice, it just got to be too much."

The Mustangs had a tremendous amount of success on the field. In their seven seasons, the team won five league championships. In fact, the Mustangs took home another championship this past season with a 8-3 record in the MidStates Football League. The team had just moved into that league prior to the season.
