Water skiers battle the cold water for a cause

Posted: Updated:
NEWVILLE (WKOW) -- Skiers braved the cold water Saturday to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

The 20th annual Jan's Fans Pulling for a Cure took place at the Rock River in Newville.

Finding a cure is important to event founder Janice Hart because she was diagnosed with ms 21 years ago.

The first Jan's Fans was a walk but with efforts from Janice's husband they quickly changed the event to water skiing.

"My husband went out water skiing one early April and was complaining about numbness, tingling, being exhausted. That's kind of what I feel like all the time having ms symptoms and the light bulb went on in his head and I knew were in trouble," said Hart.

The event was sponsored by Redline Watersports.
