On 27 News at 10: Madison area runner struggles with decision to return and finish Boston Marathon

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- When runners line up for the Boston Marathon next Monday, April 21, Greg Pavek will be there. But making the decision to go back to Boston wasn't an easy one for Pavek, who was just a few blocks from the finish line when two bombs went off during last year's marathon.

“I remember looking for the 26 mile marker because I wanted to know, I only have 2/10 of a mile to go,” Greg said. “And down at the finish line I could see and I heard this noise. Smoke billowed up in to the sky.”

Pavek's wife was supposed to be waiting for him at the finish line. He spoke with 27 News about the frantic search for his wife that followed the blasts, as well as his struggle to make a decision on going back to Boston and finishing what he started in 2013.

Kristen Barbaresi brings you Greg's story, tonight on 27 News at 10.
