Rep. Petri announces retirement

Posted: Updated:
NEENAH (WKOW) -- Representative Tom Petri will not seek re-election for his 6th Congressional District seat this fall.

While at an event in Neenah on Monday, the Congressman made it official, announcing he will retire at the end of his current term.

Petri has held his seat representing Northeast Wisconsin since 1979 and says there's not one particular reason he's retiring.

Republican State Senator Glenn Grothmann has announced he will run for the 6th district seat, while fellow Republican Senator Joe Leibham said he is also thinking about running.
