UPDATE: Authorities search for SUV responsible for fatal accident

Posted: Updated:
UPDATE (WKOW) -- Two people are dead, and the hunt is on for the SUV believed to be responsible, after a multi-vehicle accident Sunday night.

The crash happened on HWY 14 in the Northeast part of Janesville around 8 p.m.

According to the Rock County Sheriff's office, 24-year-old Mitchell Vance and 18-year-old Devin Julius were killed when their motorcycles were hit by a mid-sized SUV, possibly a Nissan SUV.

Deputies say the SUV drifted over the center line, struck the men and ejected both of them from their vehicles. It then fled the scene of the crash.

Vance was pronounced dead on the scene and Julius was pronounced dead less than an hour later at Mercy Hospital. Autopsies are scheduled for both men Monday.

Now the Rock County Sheriff is seeking information about the SUV on question. They say the vehicle would likely have front and driver's side damage, including a missing headlight assembly and a missing wheel well cover.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Rock County Communications Center at (608) 757-2244.
