Steinhafels approved to purchase American TV

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (AP) -- Steinhafels furniture chain has been approved to purchase three American TV and Appliance stores.

A Dane County judged approved the sale for a total of $21-million.  American went out of business last month, with nearly 1,000 people in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa losing their jobs.

Gary Steinhafel says the Pewaukee company will hire 125-150 employees to work at the three stores.  Those stores include Grand Chute, Oak Creek and Madison's east side.  The stores will be remodeled and open in the fall.

Two other stores in Pewaukee and Brown Deer, along with a parcel of land in Oak Creek, were approved for sale to American Property Acquisition.
