Family creates awareness of fundraising efforts on one year anniversary of teen's death

Posted: Updated:
MCFARLAND (WKOW) --- Many people first heard of Aly Wolff when social media created a viral call to pop singer Justin Beiber to meet the local teen.

That social media campaign was only a part of who Aly was, she publicly fought a battle with cancer and used that to help create awareness and raise money for cancer research.

Along with her friends and family, Aly created Aly's Honky Tonk Hustle Run/Walk.

Aly passed away one year ago Tuesday, just 4 weeks before her first planned run/walk.

Her parents, Russ and Sheila, along with her sister Tanya joined Wake Up Wisconsin to promote the run/walk coming up on May 17.

The YouTube video above was also released Tuesday by the Aly Wolff Foundation to celebrate Aly's life and continue her mission of awareness.

The run last year raised $125,000 for cancer research.
