INCHEON, South Korea (WKOW) -- One of the crew members who put others lives ahead of her own while the ferry sank off the coast of South Korea is being called a hero at her funeral.

Witnesses say 22-year-old Park Jee Young helped passengers escape and distributed life jackets.  She was not wearing a life jacket herself; she said that crew members should be last to get them, and she had to help others.

She has been with the ferry company since 2012.  Young was with the ship, Sewol, for six months.

Meanwhile, the coast guard told CNN the first distress call was not from the captain or crew members, but from a boy aboard the sinking ferry who used his cellphone.

Currently, nine crew members are facing charges.  At least 150 are confirmed dead.  About 150 are still missing.
