$660,000 bonus for state's Chief Investment Officer

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin Chief Investment Officer David Villa got the largest chunk of the $13.3 million in bonuses awarded to state pension fund managers as a reward for strong investment returns. Wisconsin Investment Board approved the bonuses, which are 66% higher than the $8 million awarded last year.

Villa's $660,000 bonus this year is also much higher than the nearly $421,000 he got last year.

The board announced the overall bonus totals last Friday and the individual amounts Wednesday.

The board manages more than $104 billion in assets, most of which is in the Wisconsin Retirement System, and says over the past five years the staff's investment performance above market returns has added $2.65 billion to the retirement system.
