MADISON (WKOW) --- More information has been released on the police chase Monday afternoon that started near UW campus and ended in Fitchburg.
Police say the car not only was on the run driving on roads, but also for a short time was on the Lake Shore Path near campus.
There were four or five cop cars at one point following the suspects who were throwing metal objects out of the vehicle. After arrest, they told police it was in hopes the cop cars would hit them and their tires would blow
Tyler McIntosh, 25, of Madison was arrested along with 23-year-old Chelsea Schwaegerl.
The chase ended when the vehicle crashed. Police thank a 36-year-old Iowa City man who chased the suspects on foot after the crash and led police to the suspects.
The MPD would like to thank other law enforcement agencies for assistance in the pursuit and apprehension: Shorewood Hills Police Department, Fitchburg Police Department, Dane County Sheriff's Department, and the UW-Madison Police Department - whose officers played an instrumental role in the case.
