Beloit baby death investigation

BELOIT (WKOW) --- Beloit Police are investigating the death of a 3 month old infant. 

According to the press release, at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday Beloit Police and fire responded to a home in the 1500 block St. Lawrence for an infant not breathing.

Beloit Fire personnel did do CPR and transported the baby, but the infant was later pronounced dead at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

The investigation shows that the 16-year-old mom went to sleep on the couch with the infant after feeding him around midnight.  At 4:15 a.m. the mother found the infant unresponsive and called 911.

An autopsy will be conducted as the investigation continues.
