Wausau students face fines for nerf battle

Posted: Updated:
WAUSAU (WKOW) -- Some students at Wausau West High School are in some trouble for a nerf gun fight.

Police were called last night after a neighbor thought they saw someone pointing a real gun at a car.

Turns out it was just a nerf gun, as students were having a nerf gun battle in the neighborhood. While it was just a game, the six students will still have to pay a fine for disorderly conduct.

"Our dispatch said there were three people with firearms so we had to respond appropriately we wanted to do everything as safe as possible for us and for the citizens in the area," said Wausau Police Captain Ben Bliven.

This isn't the first time the Wausau School District has dealt with nerf battles.

Parents received a letter about it last week, warning them any complaints will "be investigated and handled accordingly.
