Heartland Farm featured on national TV show, "Animal House"

VERONA (WKOW) -- Heartland Farm Sanctuary, Wisconsin's only farm-animal shelter, will be featured on a national TV program called "Animal House."

It's a similar concept to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Right now, Heartland Farm Sanctuary is at full capacity. They need more room to grow and house the animals. The TV show will help renovate their current facility and build a new barn for the animals. Due to lack of capacity, Heartland must turn away more than 10 animals for each animals they're able to rescue.

The new facility is expected to have more animal sheltering and care giving space. It will be heated and air-conditioned and includes an elevator allowing for people in wheelchairs to visit the animals. "Animal House" needs the help of the community to get the project done. Heartland and "Animal House" will select local businesses for support and donated materials for this project. Any organizations or individuals interested in playing a role should contact Heartland Farm Sanctuary.

Filming may start as early as summer, but they're waiting to hear about the exact start date.
