Jeremy Wand appealing conviction in deaths of nephews

LAFAYETTE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Court records show Jeremy Wand is appealing his conviction in the deaths of his three nephews.

A notice of appeal was filed Thursday in Lafayette County. It says Wand is appealing his August 2013 conviction to the District II Court of Appeals.

Jeremy Wand, 19, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison on three counts of first degree intentional homicide, one count of attempted first degree intentional homicide, one count of felony murder and one count of arson to a building. Wand pleaded guilty to the charges in June of 2013, but tried to withdraw those pleas in August of 2013. Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Vale denied the motion to change the pleas.

Wand was convicted of helping his older brother, Armin Wand, set fire to Armin's home in Argyle, which killed Armin's three sons. Armin's wife, Sharon, survived but was severely injured, and she lost the child she was carrying.

Armin Wand is serving three life sentences for his role in the fire.
