Beloit police investigating second homicide in the last 24 hours

Posted: Updated:
BELOIT (WKOW) -- The Beloit Police Department is investigating two homicides that were discovered within 24 hours.

Police were in a southwestern Beloit neighborhood when they heard multiple gunshots around 4:22 p.m. Citizens in the Eighth and Highland area reported a person firing a gun.

Police found one victim with a gunshot wound. The 20-year-old victim was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Beloit police have identified the victim as Raymond L. Holloway.

This comes after police were investigating a homicide that happened early Friday morning. The Beloit Police Department says they found a person lying in the road on the 2100 block of Newark Road just after midnight.  The man had been shot.

Police later identified the victim as Edward Damont Haley, 36, of Beloit.

Investigators won't say whether they think Haley was killed where he was found, or his body was dumped on the road.

Police do not know if the two incidents are connected but they will quickly evaluate the possibility. Detectives and officers will continue to follow up on any clues. They have not identified suspects in either shooting.
