Community cleanup keeps Earth Day spirit going

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Members of two local engineering and consulting firms kept the Earth Day spirit going.

More than a dozen people from Graef and McKinstry grabbed their garbage bags and picked up trash along Wingra Creek and Lake Wingra in Madison.

"We pick this day to celebrate Earth Day and help clean up our planet. This is our first time doing this and we hope to make it an annual event to share this clean up with our partners and colleagues," said cleanup participant Loei Badreddine.

It was an effort that hit close to home for these workers. Both firms say they've shared a commitment to the environment and sustainability for decades.
