EAGLE RIVER (WAOW) -The Vilas County Sheriff Department is investigating a suspicious fire that happened at a church near Eagle River early Sunday morning, according to a news release.
WAOW-TV reports that the Eagle River Fire Department, Eagle River Police Department, Lac du Flambeau tribal Police K-9 unit and the Vilas County Sheriff's Department responded to a general fire alarm at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Lincoln Township, Eagle River just before 1 a.m., according to the release.
A Vilas County Sheriff's officer put out the small fire inside the church, according to the release. Officers on scene also noticed criminal damage to the property.
