WATERLOO TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- A 911 call to the Grant County Sheriff's Office Saturday night sent deputies to Adrian Hollow Road for a medical emergency.
Once on scene, it was discovered a 60-year-old Cassville woman jumped from a moving vehicle. She was riding in the rear cargo area of a Chevrolet Tracker, driven by 75-year-old Jerry Cromwell. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 20 mph when the woman jumped.
Deputies say the woman was so intoxicated, she couldn't sit upright in the seats. However, it is still not clear why she opened the hatch door and jumped. She suffered minor injures and was taken to Grant Regional Health Center by Cassville EMS.
Cromwell had also been drinking and after field sobriety tests were conducted, he was arrested for OWI-6th. Cromwell was taken to the Grant County Jail and also cited for having open intoxicants in his vehicle.
