MADISON (WKOW) -- The family of a young couple killed in a crash in Kenosha County is remembering them as energetic and full of passion.

Bram Dorresteijn, 34, and his wife, Shari Dorresteijn, 33, were involved in a car crash Thursday night. Shari was killed at the scene and Bram died Sunday night in the hospital.

The couple, who married in 2011, leaves behind a 2-year old son, Wesley, and 2-month old daughter, Charlotte.

"When they just mentioned Wesley or Charlotte's names their faces would absolutely light up," said Tessa Dorresteijn, Bram's sister and the youngest of her family's three siblings,

"That's something we hope we can continue to remind Wesley and Charlotte about as they grow up," she said, "that they will never forget how much they were loved by Bram and Shari."

"I think right now everyone's focused on trying to make Charlotte and Wesley as comfortable as they can be in this situation and focusing on them." Tessa Dorresteijn said.

Bram's younger brother, Paul, said the two young children will now be living with Shari's sister, her husband, and their two kids aged six and 11. The family is adopting them.

"They're great parents," he said. "So we feel like (Wesley and Charlotte) will be in a good place."

Tessa said she always admired how her brother and sister and law loved their children.

"I don't have kids at all, but I will certainly, in the future if I'm at that point, I would love to be able to have the same love, passion and compassion for my children that Bram and Shari had for Charlotte and Wesley," she said.

Bram and Shari's will called for a trust fund to be set up for their children in the event of a tragedy such as last week's. Friends have also been encouraging donations to a memorial fund set up in the family's honor. To donate, click here or here.
