Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- UW police have identified the suspect who was arrested.

They say he is Shane Franke.

Franke faces tentative charges of battery to a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

MADISON (WKOW) -- UW police had to use a taser on a man they say was combative during an arrest.

Around 4:20 p.m. Monday, officers were called to Sellery Hall on reports of a man who was being disruptive. Police say the man, who is a UW-Madison student, was asked several times by Housing staff to leave, but he refused.

When officers arrived, they found the man was combative, violent and showed no intention of being cooperative. Officers tasered the man in order to bring him into custody. Police say the man remained combative after being arrested. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

During the incident, a UWPD officer sustained a minor hand injury. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
