2 juveniles cited for making fake guns look real

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Two 12-year-olds are cited for having fake handguns that officers first thought were real.

Madison police officers were called to Hob Street and Camden Road around 4:40 p.m. Monday for a report of two juveniles wearing masks and armed with handguns. Police officers confronted the two at gunpoint, and the juveniles surrendered their handguns. They were taken into custody.

When officers examined the handguns, it was determined they were facsimile firearms and the orange colored tip of each "firearm" was painted black to leave the impression they were real.

Both juveniles were cited for Unlawful Possession of a Facsimile Firearm City Ordinance 25.30(2) and released to a responsible adult.
