No evidence of foul play in death of man found in river in Wisconsin Dells Monday

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards tells 27 News an autopsy on the body of Mitchel Blanchard was completed Tuesday morning and confirmed Blanchard died by drowning.

Blanchard's body was found in the Wisconsin River Monday, near Kilbourn Dam in Wisconsin Dells, completing a two day search for the Pardeeville man. He has last been seen when police responded to a Dells bar where Blanchard and others had gathered after his sister's wedding. He ran and police followed before eventually calling off the chase.

Sheriff Richards says his office has no reason right now to believe there was any foul play that led to Blanchard's drowning and that investigators aren't sure why or how he entered the water.
