ESCAMBIA CO., Florida (WKOW) -- More than 100 inmates are injured after an explosion at a Florida jail. Some corrections officers were hurt as well.

The explosion happened around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Escambia County Central Booking and Detention Facility. Authorities think it was a gas explosion.

Injured inmates have been transferred to area hospitals. No deaths have been confirmed.

About 600 prisoners who were not hurt, were evacuated by bus and taken to other detention facilities in the area. Authorities say no inmates are known to have escaped.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion. The building had extensive flooding from recent storms, but they're not sure if that's connected.
