Badger women's basketball adds UW-Milwaukee transfer

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) - The Badger women's basketball team has added a veteran presence in the paint. Head coach Bobbie Kelsey announced that Avyanna Young is transferring in from UW-Milwaukee.

“We are very happy to welcome Avyanna Young to our program. She is an aggressive scorer and rebounder who will anchor us at the forward position. She can also stretch the defense with her ability to shoot from deep. Avyanna has made tremendous improvement in her game since entering college and she will no doubt continue to reach her athletic potential in her final two years of eligibility. In addition to her scoring prowess, she is also a conscientious student. We are very excited for her to be a Badger.”

The 6'1" forward played two seasons with the Panthers. She started 29 games as a sophomore. Young averaged 13.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. She was second in the Horizon League in rebounding.

Young was a first-team all-state selection at Rufus King High School. She will have to sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules. Young will have two seasons of eligibility left.
