EAB invades Jefferson County

Posted: Updated:
JEFFERSON (WKOW) -- State agriculture officials confirmed Friday that the emerald ash borer has invaded Jefferson County.

EAB kills ash trees and has been making its way into this part of the state.

Jefferson County was already working as though EAB was there because there was an infestation on the border with Walworth County.

EAB quarantine rules mean you can't take firewood out of a quarantined county in an effort to prevent the spread of the damaging beetle.

Jefferson is the 20th Wisconsin county to confirm an EAB infestation.

Others in our area include Dane and Rock.
