MADISON (WKOW) -- Public health officials are looking for information on a dog that bit a man on Sunday.

Public Health Madison and Dane County says around 10:30 a.m. a man walking near the intersection of S. Gammon Road and New Washburn Way was bitten from behind by a dog that was on a leash. The owner was holding the leash while riding his bike on the sidewalk. The man was pulled off his bike by the dog during the incident.

The dog is described as black and tan, possibly a Doberman pinscher. The owner is described as a white man in his forties, heavy set and possibly bald.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (608) 255-2345 and ask for the animal services officer. If the dog is not found, the victim is likely to require a series of injections to prevent rabies.
