Downtown resident breaks free from attacker

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say a 24-year-old woman was able to break free from a stranger early Sunday morning.

The woman states she was being followed a man who when grabbed her.  It happened around 4:00 in the morning near the intersection of E. Dayton Street and N. Pinckney Street.  The man put his hand over her mouth and an arm around her torso, telling her not to scream. 

The woman managed to get away from her attacker and jump into a nearby taxi.  The driver assisted the victim and police were called.

She describes the man as Hispanic and stands approximately 5'6"-5'7" with a slender build.  He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, dark jeans and a dark long-sleeved shirt.
