Veterans groups call for Veterans Affairs Secretary to resign

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Two key groups are calling for the resignation of the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

The Concerned Veterans for America and the American Legion, the nation's largest veteran organization, both want Secretary Eric Shinseki to step down.

This comes after months of CNN reporting on U.S. veterans who have died while waiting for care at V.A. hospitals across the country.

Secretary Shinseki reiterated his dedication to making sure veterans get quality care and benefits.

The White House released a statement saying President Barack Obama remains confident in Shinseki's leadership.
