Bicyclist injured after crashing in construction zone

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Police say a 26-year-old Madison man is in critical condition with a head injury after crashing in a construction zone on E. Johnson Street.

Around 9:40 p.m. Thursday, police went to E. Johnson Street and N. Livingston Street after reports of an accident.  Witnesses say the man was riding his bike and passing traffic in the construction zone when he ran a red light.  He was not wearing a helmet.

Officials say it appears the carbon fiber front fork had snapped off which could be a reason for the crash.
