MADISON (WKOW) - Former Badger wide receiver Jared Abbrederis was picked up by the Packers in the 5th round of the NFL Draft. Abbrederis was the 176th pick overall.

Abbrederis is a Wautoma, WI native which is just 88 miles from Green Bay.

Abbrederis, a former walk-on, caught 78 passes for 1081 yards and 7 touchdowns in his senior season at Wisconsin. He won the Burlsworth Trophy in 2013, as the nation's best player to start his career as a walk-on.

Abbrederis reacted to being selected by the Packers in a conference call with media members on Saturday afternoon.

"It's crazy right now," Abbrederis. "There's a lot going through my head being a walk-on and then being able to have my dream playing in the NFL and on the packers, which is my team. Growing up that's who I rooted for so I'm excited. I can't really explain it. A lot of emotions and just excited to be a part of the organization."
