State appeals federal ruling on voter ID law

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin's attorney general on Monday filed the official appeal of a federal court ruling that the state's voter ID law was unconstitutional.

Last month, a federal judge ruled the voter ID law imposed an unfair burden on poor and minority voters.

Two separate cases challenging the republican-backed law are also pending before the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

The state would have to win all of the cases in order for the law to be in effect for the November elections.
