Heavy rainfall breaks records in Green Bay and Appleton

Posted: Updated:
GREEN BAY (AP) -- Recent heavy rains broke records in Green Bay and Appleton.

According to the National Weather Service, Green Bay received 1.05 inches of rain on Monday.  That breaks the record of 0.88 inches set in 1924.

At least one area road was reported to be closed due to a washout from rain and the Fox River.

Emergency officials said that while the rain surge created some difficulties amid this usually soggy spring, the record-setting rainfall wasn't enough to raise any major flooding concerns in the region.
