One arrested after stabbing incident on State Street

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Now that a victim has come forward, Madison police say a 28-year-old man is a suspect in a stabbing incident.

A 26-year-old man was injured in a fight on State Street early Monday morning.  The man went to the hospital with minor stab wounds to his arm and leg.

The victim says he befriended a man and had drinks with him.  When they went outside, the suspect pulled a knife and began swinging.  The victim didn't believe his wounds to be serious, therefore didn't contact police.  However, an uninvolved witness had called 911.  That person didn't see anyone get stabbed, but had seen the suspect pull a knife.

Police responded and found the knife in the street.  They were able to chase down the suspect and he was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and resisting arrest.
