Two officers injured in struggle at south transfer point

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say one officer suffered a broken ankle and another suffered knee and elbow injuries after struggling to remove a man from a Madison Metro bus Tuesday morning.

Witnesses say a 31-year old man got in a fight with another man at the South Transfer Point on Badger Rd. before getting on the bus.

He suffered facial injuries in the fight, and concerned for his welfare, officers attempted to get him off the bus so he could be treated for his injuries.

He refused to stand up and began fighting with officers.

A taser and pepper spray were ineffective in subduing the man, and it took several officers to remove him from the bus.

He was eventually taken to the hospital for observation and evaluation.
