Big crowd expected for this weekend's commencement at UW-Madison

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- For the first time in decades, UW-Madison Spring Commencement is moving to one single ceremony at Camp Randall.

Campus police are warning that the traffic for Saturday's ceremony will be more like a typical football Saturday. More than 50,000 are expected to attend the ceremony. The ceremony will be shorter than ceremonies in the past because they are combining all the ceremonies into one.

To meet the parking demands, all campus lots will be free from noon on Friday to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For a full list of parking available and for more info click here. All parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Breese Terrace, the street bordering the stadium on the west, will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Monroe Street will be closed to traffic immediately after commencement, for up to an hour.
