Horse and buggy incident in Darlington

Posted: Updated:
DARLINGTON (WKOW) -- Around 10:30 Wednesday morning, a City of Darlington police officer came across an unmanned horse and buggy on northbound Galena Street.

The horse and buggy crossed the Main Street bridge and continued into the downtown business district.  The officer was able to capture the horse in the parking lot.  The horse and buggy, however, first collided with the squad car and five others, causing minor damage.

The buggy overturned, spilling its contents of gasoline and paint in a business parking lot adjacent to Main Street.  The investigation into incident reveals the horse had been tied up about a mile south by its owner, Elam Allgyer (31).  Authorities believe something spooked the horse and it managed to free itself and run.  No injuries were reported.
